The SBA continues to review our player development pathway to look for improvements in the way we deliver our programs.
With basketball underway again for 2020, we have re-structured some of our SBA Development programs to make sure we are better catering for our junior members participation and development pathway.
Starting with our beginner programs for 5 to 8 year-olds, previously named “Sabre Cubs” and “Play 3 on 3” have been rebranded as “Bee Ball” and “Bee Ball 3 on 3”. These programs will continue to deliver the same content and are perfect for players new to basketball.

Our Saturday Boys and Girls Skills Clinics has been re-branded to “Sabre Cubs”. This will be our new “rep ready” program for SBA domestic boys and girls from 8-10 years of age who are looking to prepare for Sabres rep tryouts which typically occur in September every year. These sessions will run at Mentone Girls Secondary College on Saturday mornings from 11.00am – 11.50am.

For our morning programs our Sabres Rep Academy begins again with Under 12 boys and girls on Tuesday morning from 7-8am and, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 boys and girls on a Wednesday morning from 7am-8am. These programs are open to all Sabres players in our third, fourth and fifth teams.

Our suite of Hoop School programs is being re-named and re-launched with some minor tweaks.
Hoop School Shooting is re-launched for Term 1, with sessions being held on Thursday morning from 7.00am – 8.00am. This program is targeting SBA domestic players and Sabres Rep players who are eager to improve their shooting.
Hoop School Guard continues in the same format with the teaching of guard specific development while Hoop School now has the name “Skills” to better reflect the content of each session.
