NBL1 Women’s Coach Appointed

Please join the SBA in welcoming Kerryn Mitchell as the new NBL1 Womens Head Coach for the 2023 season.

Coach Kerryn Mitchell has been involved in basketball for over 40 years, as a player, referee, coach, coordinator, selector, and head of basketball. She represented Victoria and Australia as a junior, going on to play for a decade in the WNBL; plus, three years professionally in Europe.

Since retiring from playing, Kerryn turned her hand to coaching. Honing her craft in the VJBL, progressing to NBL1 assistant coach, then Youth League head coach. Her Youth League team won the championship in her second season at the helm, where she was also awarded coach of the year. She has served in the Basketball Victoria pathway for many years, winning multiple national championship gold medals as an assistant coach, and one as a head coach. Most recently, she came runners up in the WNBL as an assistant coach with the Southside Flyers.

Coach Mitchell is the head coach of the Flinders Christian Community College basketball academy program and enjoys using basketball as a vehicle to empower her students and develop their leadership skills. Coach Mitchell has an education degree, graduating with Honours from Monash University in 2011.
